About the program
Brought to you by the Wagga Wagga Business Chamber and operated by shop local experts Why Leave Town, the Wagga Wagga Gift Card is aimed at encouraging people to shop local. Each card can only be spent in local participating businesses — meaning all the money stays local!
Launched in October 2021, the program has been designed to support our local businesses and keep money in our local community. It is often stated that $100 spent locally equates to a $180 impact on the local economy due to the multiplier effect. That is, when money is spent locally, some of that money (about 40%) is then reinvested into other local stores and so on, and so on (about 7 times).
How it works
The Shop Local Wagga gift card is an EFTPOS-based gift card that works like any other gift card or voucher based system, the only difference is the money can only be spent in Wagga.
Simply visit a Load Up Store to collect a card and decide how much money to load onto it, anywhere between $10 to $1,000 per card. You can then use the card to purchase goods and services at any participating business. The cards cannot be redeemed outside of the participating store network.

The only criteria we have for you to be eligible to be apart of this program is that the business needs to be locally owned, meaning the owners of the business reside in the Wagga Wagga Local Government Area).
All you need is an EFTPOS machine to reap the benefits. It’s a normal EFTPOS transaction!
